Sustainability

At The Willows, we support Bhutan’s vision for responsible and sustainable tourism by adopting practical measures that help conserve resources, reduce unnecessary waste and encourage more mindful travel.
In line with national sustainability efforts and hospitality good practices, we continually look for ways to operate more thoughtfully while maintaining a comfortable and welcoming experience for our guests.
Water
- Water conservation is encouraged through everyday practices across the hotel.
- For longer stays, bed linen is refreshed every other day unless requested sooner, and guests are invited to reuse towels where comfortable.
Energy
- We aim to reduce unnecessary energy use through efficient lighting, natural daylight and mindful operation of heating and hot water systems.
- Guests can help by switching off lights, televisions and heating when leaving the room.
Waste & Amenities
- Reducing avoidable waste is an important part of our approach.
- Some amenities that are commonly disposable or used only occasionally are provided on request rather than placed in every room. We appreciate your understanding and support.
- Filtered drinking water is provided to help reduce unnecessary plastic bottle consumption, and waste segregation is encouraged across hotel operations.
Supporting Local
- We are a Bhutanese owned and operated hotel and employ 100% local staff.
- We seek to support local products, local food and Bhutanese hospitality wherever practical.
- Choosing local experiences and products during your visit helps strengthen communities and keeps the benefits of tourism closer to home.
How You Can Help
A few simple actions can make a meaningful difference:
- Reuse towels and linen where comfortable
- Request only the amenities you need
- Turn off lights and appliances when leaving the room
- Use water thoughtfully
- Support local products and experiences
Thank you for helping us make travel in Bhutan more thoughtful and sustainable.
